1 Corinthians 13:1 - Dead Friend
Perpendicular plates on axes
void-folk, both. We said we’d bind each other
to this life. Arms entwined; chain-link fence.
Nicky Sobotka staring through
at America’s decline. I look for you, but only
find, dust and echoes — miasma mind. Long for
those tar-pool pupils, that motorised mouth,
stringent principles and theoretical clout.
Were we the boxers, were we the bag?
Unerring bravery; ball-bearing crux. You melded
it down to fix others, your molten warmth
carried in the cracks of their being.
